This photograph was captured in 2019 while I was observing the relationship between farmers and livestock at a biodynamic farm in Klein Delfgauw, The Netherlands. While photographing subjects I discovered that the animals were not solely instruments of work but primarily sources of comfort and strength for young individuals dedicated to agricultural work as part of a job reintegration program.

I’m grateful that the picture found its place within the context of the exhibition “CURA”, a permanent installation at the Bolzano hospital curated by Südtiroler Künstlerbund and Cooperativa19 which showcases visual works of other young artists acquired by Stiftung Südtiroler Sparkasse

The image is part of my ongoing photographic research about roles and (dis)connections between humans and animals.
